The Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools is a recognised Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification and is designed for individuals who want to work as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant in a school or college. You don’t need any previous experience or qualifications.
This is a work-based learning qualification, and you will need to be working or volunteering in a classroom setting, supporting a teacher. We recommend at least one day or two half days over a minimum of 3 months, and you will need an expert witness and mentor to sign off your practical assignments.
We will provide you with a personal tutor and you will have access to an online platform to study from home and complete your assignments. On completion of this course, you will be a fully qualified Level 2 Teaching Assistant. If you are already an experienced TA, then you may want to consider the Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.

This a distance learning qualification and recognised Level 2 TA qualification, here are the key course details.
How does the course work?
There are no exams to be taken during the course, you will work through your assignments which will be marked by your personal tutor. They are there to support you throughout the course and will be your main contact for any issues or questions that you may have. This will mainly be through email/online feedback, but you can schedule a call if you want to speak with them directly.
Once you have completed your course you will receive a hard copy and digital copy of your certificate. There are no additional fees for certificates except for replacement hard copies which will cost £30.

This qualification is open to learners aged 16 and over.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification; however, learners should possess literacy and numeracy skills at Level 2 or an equivalent standard and be actively employed or volunteering in a school setting where they can demonstrate both knowledge and practical skills. Access to a PC and Microsoft Word is essential.
Depending on their role or employer, learners may need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check—particularly if they are working with individuals covered by these safeguarding regulations (formerly known as the Criminal Records Bureau or CRB check).

Yes, you can use our finance partner Payl8r to spread the cost of your course up to 12 months. You will only receive your certificate once payment has been made in full.
Yes you will need to be working or volunteering in a classroom setting, such as a school or college. We recommend at least one day per week for a period of 3 months or more. We do not support students in finding a placement.
You will access our online learning platform, where you will find all the learning materials and resources. You will make your way through the assignments, which will be marked by your personal tutor. There is no need for any face-to-face learning or observations by us.
You will need a line manager as an expert witness to sign off on your evidence-based assignments.
You will have your own personal tutor for the duration of the course, you will be able to email them and arrange calls for further support. Even though this is a self study course you will have one to one support whenever you need it.
On Average learners take around 4-6 months to complete the course but some finish it sooner and others take longer. It really comes down to how much time you can put in. You will have 12 months to complete your course. We will be able to discuss an extension beyond 12 months and there may be admin fees applied to continue.
