How does the course work?
There are no exams to be taken during the course, you will work through your assignments which will be marked by your personal tutor. They are there to support you throughout the course and will be your main contact for any issues or questions that you may have. This will mainly be through email/online feedback, but you can schedule a call if you want to speak with them directly.
Once you have completed your course you will receive a hard copy and digital copy of your certificate. There are no additional fees for certificates except for replacement hard copies which will cost £30.
Unit 1: Communicating and Building Professional Relationships with Children and Young People
This unit explores effective communication techniques and the development of positive, professional relationships with children and young people in an educational environment.
Unit 2: The Structure and Function of Schools
Gain insight into how schools operate, including their organisational structures, key roles and responsibilities, and the policies that guide educational practice.
Unit 3: Understanding the Development of Children and Young People
Examine the different stages of development from childhood through adolescence, including the influence of external factors and how to support the individual needs of learners.
Unit 4: Safeguarding and Promoting the Welfare of Children and Young People
Learn about safeguarding principles, policies, and procedures designed to protect children and young people, including how to identify risks and respond appropriately to concerns.
This qualification is open to learners aged 16 and over.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification; however, learners should possess literacy and numeracy skills at Level 2 or an equivalent standard and be actively employed or volunteering in a school setting where they can demonstrate both knowledge and practical skills.
Depending on their role or employer, learners may need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check—particularly if they are working with individuals covered by these safeguarding regulations (formerly known as the Criminal Records Bureau or CRB check).
It is the learner’s responsibility to consult their employer for guidance regarding any necessary checks.
Yes, you can use our finance partner Payl8r to spread the cost of your course up to 12 months. You will only receive your certificate once payment has been made in full.
Yes you will need two learners to assess who are undertaking qualifications that prove occupational competence. You can either use our learners or your own.
If you are using your own learners you will need an expert witness from your workplace to sign off any evidence based work.
Our learners can be provided at no extra cost and you can assess them remotely. We cannot guarantee sector specific learners, but they do not need to be sector specific to gain your qualification.
You will access our online learning platform where you will find all the learning materials and resources. You will make your way through the assignments which will be marked by your personal tutor. There is no need for any face to face learning or observations by us.
If you are using your own learners then your expert witness will sign off any evidence based tasks or observations. When using our learners you will choose assessment methods that don’t involve face to face observations.
You will have your own personal tutor for the duration of the course, you will be able to email them and arrange calls for further support. Even though this is a self study course you will have one to one support whenever you need it.
TAQA stands for Training, Assessment and Quality Assurance. It is not a qualification it is the umbrella term for assessor and quality assurance qualifications. The CAVA replaced the A1 and D32/33 qualifications, they are still recognised but no longer delivered.
On Average learners take around 4-6 months to complete the course but some finish it sooner and others take longer. It really comes down to how much time you can put in. You will have 12 months to complete your course. We will be able to discuss an extension beyond 12 months and there may be admin fees applied to continue.
