The Level 4 Certificate in Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) is aimed at experienced Teaching Assistants who are looking to progress and take on additional responsibilities such as leading a team of TA’s, taking and covering classes on their own and planning. HLTA’s play a key role in supporting teaching and the school as a whole.

You will need to be working as an established Teaching Assistant in a school with the opportunity to cover lessons and act as an HLTA. Although no prior qualifications are needed, it is not recommended for those new to a TA role.

This is a formal qualification regulated by OFQUAL and will demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to undertake the role of an HLTA. You will also need a line manager and expert witness to sign of evidence-based tasks and observations.

I decided to train to become an early years assessor, after looking at many different training programs I decided to use LXP Skills. This program allowed me to learn while working as it is a distance course. Deborah was a fantastic tutor always at hand with support and advice when needed. The whole course was easy to follow, LXP Skills also supplied learners for the observation and assessing work part of the course which took the pressure off finding my own. I would recommend this training to anyone looking to train as an early years assessor and I will probably be back for further training soon.

I completed an IQA course with LXP. The course was easy enough to work through in a self-guided manner, I would recommend the course for anyone who has established some experience in assessing and quality assurance. Deborah offered polite feedback particularly during the end stages of the course.
