The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training qualification is designed for those currently working in an education setting, wanting to enhance their skills in this field or for those who are set to start a teaching position in the adult education and skills sector.
The qualification will give learners the essential skills and knowledge required to become effective and confident teachers, trainers, or instructors in a variety of educational settings, one on one or to a group of people. It is designed to develop an understanding of the theory of teaching, along with developing skills in the practical elements of teaching.
The course covers those who teach the 14+ age range, in the post 16 sector, within community learning or for private organisations.
Individuals who are not currently teaching can also achieve this qualification if they are capable of meeting the minimum teaching practice requirements of 30 hours.

You will work through your assignments online which will be marked by your tutor with feedback provided. There are no exams.

Once you have completed all the units you will be awarded your certificate and you will be qualified to teach in a post 16 setting.

How does the course work?
The CET is assessed in a number of ways throughout the course to ensure that learners are compliant with the standards and learning outcomes. Your assessor will support you throughout the course and can be contacted via email and your feedback will be given on the learning platform.
Assignments– Learners will complete a number of assignments for each section whilst on the course. The assignments will include theory and need to relate to real workplace or teaching situations. The assignments have been created to explore and apply the full teaching and learning cycle. You will be provided with feedback and if needed you will have the opportunity to resubmit assignments with additional work.
Teaching– You will be required to plan and deliver 3- one hour teaching sessions in a real classroom situation. You will also be required to submit a teaching log and evidence that you completed a minimum of 30 hours classroom teaching experience.
Once you have completed your course, your will receive a hardcopy and digital copy of your certificate. There are no additional fees for certificates except for replacement hard copies which will cost £30.

If you have completed the Level 3 CAVA, AET or Level 4 IQA then you may wish to use credits from those courses and submit them for ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’ Please mention this to your tutor before starting your course. You will need to provide your certificate as proof.

You will access our online learning platform where you will find all the learning materials and resources. You will make your way through the assignments which will be marked by your personal tutor. There is no need for any face to face learning or observations by us.
If you are using your own learners then your expert witness will sign off any evidence based tasks or observations. When using our learners you will choose assessment methods that don’t involve face to face observations.
You will have your own personal tutor for the duration of the course, you will be able to email them and arrange calls for further support. Even though this is a self study course you will have one to one support whenever you need it.
On Average learners take around 4-6 months to complete the course but some finish it sooner and others take longer. It really comes down to how much time you can put in. You will have 12 months to complete your course. We will be able to discuss an extension beyond 12 months and there may be admin fees applied to continue.
